LACOSTE - Tennis X Croc Mythology (Polynesia)

For over 75 years we have come to closely associate the crocodile with the world-famous and illustrious Lacoste brand. To commemorate the association, Lacoste has came up with a collection of nine sneakers to honor the legend of the Lacoste founder, Rene Lacoste and the different Mythologies on the infamous crocodiles from different cultures around the globe. The collection has been released over three months (April, May, and June 2009).

Lacoste - Tennis X Croc Mythology Polynesia

The special edition collection is entitled ‘Crocodile Mythology – Myth vs. Legend’. From the Polynesian Mythology is the sneaker inspired by the New Guinea crocodile and the traditional Polynesian carvings. The rich brown tones of the sneakers are from the shadings of the New Guinea crocodile. The color is also from the wood carvings of the Nuga which is the mythological half-man half-crocodile which is connected with the creation of the world in the Polynesian mythology.

The hard body armor of the crocodile is reflected on the embossed crocodile skin on the side of the sneakers. Around the sneaker are subtle totem pole styled designs which are inspired by the traditional Polynesian carvings. A special edition box is used to package each sneaker collection. It contains a booklet and postcard pack which runs through the tales of the myth and the legend of the famous Lacoste.

LACOSTE - Ibiza Croc Myth Brasil

For the past 75 years the world-renowned and illustrious brand Lacoste has always been associated with crocodiles. Their new pack is entitled ‘Crocodile Mythology – Myth vs. Legend’. It has nine different sneaker styles inspired by the crocodile myths from nine cultural hubs of the world. From the Brazilian mythology comes the Ibiza Amazonia sneakers.

Ibiza Croc Myth Brasil - Lacoste

It is inspired by the myth from the Karaja Indians of Western Amazonia about the Black crocodile which was considered as a friend of mothers and children because they helped them cross dangerous waters. The Ibiza Amazonia is predominantly black to reflect the color of the crocodile.

Sneakers - Ibiza Croc Mythology Brasil

It has an embossed gloss reptile print across the upper part. The sneakers laces and the lining are yellow to replicate the yellow bands across the flank of the crocodile and represent the yellow of the Brazilian flag. The tribal designs of the Karaja Indians are reflected on the shoe’s foxing and inner sock. The sneakers are packaged in a special edition box. Each box contains a booklet and a postcard pack.
