Nike - Cortez, Year of the Tiger

Nike celebrated the Chinese culture Year of the Tiger event with one of its classic footwear, that is the Cortez. The footwear had a nylon upper with white tiger stripes. It also had a heel tab, front toe box, eye-stay and Nike’s own swoosh. The Chinese character for tiger’’ was also embossed on it and the date of the Chinese new year - 2010.2.14.

The right shoe for the footwear had a red trim finish. As part of the launching process, a limited number of the shoes were manufactured and then given to selected stores/outlets to sell. This is one of the several promotional strategies used by Nike to further its interest.

The company uses such occasions to create awareness and keep itself in the minds of their fans. Any company can use the same strategy to promote and grow its business too.

You’ll launch an event that resolve around your product, attach your product name to the event, advertise, create a limited version of your product for that event specifically making it scarce, then create other products that compliment the launch of that event to increase revenue. People will have something to talk about for a while and of course your business/company will be on their minds which was what you were aiming for anyway.
